Basics
----------------------------------------------------------------------

These containers are designed to facilitate the carriage of cargo in excess of the dimensions available in either general purpose or open top containers. Flat racks are also known as collapsible flats or stack racks or stack masters

A collapsible flat rack consists of a flat bed with two bulkheads at each end. Some have ends that fold down, others have only 4 corner posts, and some have fixed ends.

Suitable lashing points are fitted to the floor and/or the side rails of the container, (each with a Safe Working Load of 2023 kg).

It should be noted that no tarpaulin cover is supplied, therefore cargo should be suitably weather protected.

Benefits:

  • A 'platform' on which goods are loaded, and then strapped or tied down.
  • Especially suited to heavy loads or cargo that needs loading from the top or sides, such as pipes and machinery.
  • Allows shipment of goods as a containerized unit rather than as bulk goods, thus saving on costs.
  • Choice of collapsible and non-collapsible containers with or without walls.
