Following a recent review of the levels of BAF, OTAL wishes to announce that the BAF will be adjusted to the following levels. The new charges are as follows:

Southbound West African Port Congestion Surcharges - 07/03/08

Please note Ewata has announced changes to Congestion Surcharge levels effective 21st March 2008. Changes are as follows:-

Casablanca Congestion Surcharges - 28/07/07

OTAL wish to inform its customers that the port congestion surcharge will increase for cargo to
and from Casablanca.

The revised surcharge will be EUR 100 / TEU applicable from:

Southbound: m/v Delmas Filao N15, ETA Casablanca 09/09/07
Northbound: m/v Delmas Filao NDI 715, B/L issued for Casablanca after the 15/09/07

Casablanca Congestion Surcharges - 19/07/07
Due to congestion at Casablanca, OTAL wish to inform its customers that a port congestion surcharge is to be implemented on shipments from the 1st of August.

The amount of this surcharge will be EUR 50 / TEU, and will be revised as and when the situation changes.

Emergency Terminal Congestion Surcharge Luanda - 18/07/06

Due to continuing congestion in the ports of Luanda, EWATA conference members have decided to increase the Emergency Terminal Surcharge to:-

Emergency Terminal Congestion Surcharge Matadi - 05/07/05

Due to an increase in berthing delays, as a result of recent strike action at the Matadi Container Terminal, the Emergency Terminal Congestion Surcharge will increase to EUR 650 / GBP 445 TEU and EUR 5 / GBP 3 per frt for the conventional cargo.

The new surcharge will apply to the following vessels:

Rokia Delmas 26R eta Amsterdam 15th July
Katrin 17A eta Lexioes 19th July

Emergency Terminal Congestion Surcharge LUANDA - 04/07/05

Due to congestion on the terminals in Luanda, the Port Authorities have decided to refuse the return of empty containers to the terminals with immediate effect. Containers have to be redelivered to outside terminals and then transferred during the night alongside the vessel.

Therefore, the lines serving the above trade have decided to implement an Emergency Terminal Congestion surcharge of:

This surcharge will be applicable with immeditate effect in order to compensate these extra cost.

War Risk Surcharge

Sierra Leone War Risk Surcharge Cancelled - 28/02/06

Northbound Freight Rate Restorations effective 1st July 2005 for Sawn Timber in Container - 03/06/05

Confronted with the constant increase in costs of operating vessels the restoration of freight rates has become imperative to guarantee quality and consistency of service to our customers.

Sierra Leone Port Surcharge - 27/12/07
Due to recently adjusted cost structures in Freetown EWATA Lines have decided to implement the following surcharge to recover these costs effective 1st January 2008

EUR 70 per TEU
GBP 50 per TEU

Low Sulphur Fuel Surcharge - 20/08/07

Under EU Directive 2205/33/EC the North Sea and English Channel will be added to the list of Sulphur Oxide Emission Control Areas under the MARPOL Convention 73/78. Vessels operating in these waters will be required to burn low sulphur content fuel.

Therefore a Low Sulphur Fuel Surcharge of EUR 4 – GBP 3 per TEU will be applied to shipments on top of the normal BAF.

Malabo Off Dock Surcharge
Due to the increasing expenses of operating off-dock in Temasa at Malabo the following fee will be implemented on all import containers:

GBP 240/20' - GBP 340/40'

Kinshasa Pick-Up and Drop Off Fee

EUR 295/20' - EUR 520/40'
GBP 200/20' - GBP 355/40'

This charge covers the re-delivery of empty containers in Kinshasa or the pick up of empty containers for export cargo in Matadi or Boma. Please note the free time for import containers will be limited to 21 days and for export containers to 7 days for DRC ports.

Benin Freight Tax Surcharge - 07/04/06

The Members of EWATA wish to advise their customers that in order to recover the costs of freight tax in Benin and CNCB tax, the Benin Freight Tax Surcharge will be reviewed with effect from 15th April 2006.

The Freight Tax Surcharge will hereafter be reviewed regularly in connection with the general Conference surcharge reviews, to reflect any changes.

The Freight Tax Surcharge will be applied for cargo to/from Benin only and at following levels:

Douala Off Dock Charge - 01/03/06

Due to the increasing expense of operating empty containers off dock in Douala, the following fee will be implemented on all import containers into Cameroon, Chad and the Central Africa Republic [CAR] :

Nigeria Freight Tax Surcharge - 13/11/03

We would like to inform customers that from 1st December 2003 a Tax Freight Surcharge will be applied to cargo to and from Nigerian ports. This is to recover costs of Freight Tax in Nigeria.

Please note for all shipments to/from Nigeria to North America (including America and Canada) this surcharge will be US$ 90/TEU.

Please note for all shipments to/from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia, UAE, India and China this surcharge will be US$ 100/TEU

The surcharge will apply on all Bills of Lading dated on or after 1st December 2003 and will be payable by the freight payer.
