Benin Freight Tax Surcharge - 18/06/04

Members of EWATA wish to advise customers that in order to recover the costs of freight tax in Benin and CNCB tax, a Freight Tax Surcharge will be introduced with effect from 18th June 2004.

The freight tax surcharge will hereafter be reviewed regularly in connection with the general conference surcharge reviews, to reflect any changes.

The Freight tax surcharge will be applied for containerised cargo to/from the port of Cotonou and at the following levels:

he surcharge will apply on all Bills of Lading dated on or after 18th June 2004 and will be payable by the Freight Payer.

Monrovia Port Closure Surcharge - 13/05/05

Due to severe restriction in working hours* in the port of Monrovia, an Emergency Surcharge has been implemented by EWATA members for cargo to and from Monrovia port:

This surcharge is with immediate effect inlcuding all cargo on quay not yet loaded and is in addition to the existing Monrovia War Risk Surcharge.

The level of this surcharge is subject to review dependinng on further changes in the port of Monrovia.

* The operation of the port of Monrovia has recenly been taken over by the UN - United Nations Mission in Liberia [UNMIL]. Under their management there is no work at night or at the weekend.

Extra Risk Insurance Surcharge - 26/03/03

Following moves by Vessel Insurers to add Cote d' Ivoire to the list of excluded areas we have been advised that additional premiums now apply to each vessel calling in Abidjan & San Pedro.

These high additional premiums cannot be absorbed by OTAL and therefore we have no option but to implement the following surcharge.
