Basics

If your cargo is perishable, chilled or frozen, everything depends upon it reaching its destination in perfect condition. Refrigerated containers are ideal for shipping this type of cargo. Reefers are similar to dry containers, with the exception that they include a built in refrigeration unit to keep perishable goods cold or frozen.

As experienced reefer operators OTAL is well positioned to handle all kinds of perishable and temperature sensitive commodities from pineapples to photochromatic materials.

OTAL has access to refrigerated and heated containers that are equipped with a mechanical refrigeration unit capable of transporting cargo at temperatures from -25°C to +25°C, accurate to a tenth of a degree. These units are fitted with controllable air vents to renew air inside the container.

20' reefer containers are made from MGSS and have genset mounts. The refridgerant is R134A. There are 4 lashing points on each side of the bottom rail.

High volume air flow - greater volume of air circulated, the smaller the temperature differential throughout the load.
Air venting - chilled commodities often omit ripening gasses which can reduce the shelf life of the product. This systems rejects these gases by providing 6 air changes per hour.
High level loadline - the air grilles have been positioned at the very top of the refrigeration unit to maximise the height of the loadline
