Senegal - Dakar

The Port Authority of Dakar have revised their procedures regarding hazardous cargo.

For classes 8 and 9 for Dakar destination, it is no longer necessary to request authorisation before loading. Containers in transit to inland destinations still require authorisation.

Containers for class 1 + 7 still require pre-authorisation.

We ask all customers to advise their local agent of all relevant information.

The following information describes what OTAL will accept on the Nigeria Express, Weekly and RoRo services:

Nigeria Express [ Service details ]

Class 1 - Accepted in a 20' container only. Class 1.1 not allowed.
Class 2 - Accepted.
Class 3 - Accepted.
Class 4 - Accepted.
Class 5.1 - Accepted with the following restrictions:

  • In 20' only.
  • UN 2880, 2208, 1748 calcium hypochlorite accepted only in FCL ventilated 20' limited to 14 tons. Cargo should be packed in clean drums 45kgs maxi-stuffed on pallet.

Class 5.2 - Accepted only in 20' containers.
Class 6.1 - Accepted.
Class 6.2 - Prohibited.
Class 7 - Clearance needed from OTAL.
Class 8 - Accepted.
Class 9 - Accepted.
Please note: All the above are subject to acceptance by OTAL.
