BIVAC Announce New PSI Contract With Guinea [Conakry]

Please note that BIVAC/Bureau Veritas have been awarded
by the Government of Guinea a new exclusive Pre-Shipment Inspection & scanning
contract. Please click

This programme was launched on 05/05/08, with a double
objective:
- Pre-Shipment Inspection of imported goods
- Supply and
operation with training of X-Ray scanning equipment at destination:
Conakry airport and land borders (at Siguiri and Koundara).

New regulations from the Customs authorities
in Guinea - 24/01/05
Cargo description must be as precise as possible. General
cargo is not a description.
It is strictly forbidden to make any manifest amendments after the
manifest has been lodged with customs.
" Any infringements will be severely punished"
New custom's regulation in Guinea- 31/03/03
Please note that Guinean Goverment has implemented a fine on all amendments
/ alterations of cargo manifest and bills of lading with effect from
1st of march 2003. The official fine is USD 100.
Listing of Goods Exempted from PSI
a) Goods with a FOB value below USD 5,000.00 (or equivalent),
Partial shipments covering goods having a value below USD 5,000.00
(or
equivalent) shall be nevertheless subject to intervention by
SGS if the total
value of the goods under the contract covering such shipments
is equal to
or in excess of USD 5,000.00 (or equivalent)
b) Precious stones,
precious metals
c) Objects of art
d) Explosives, fireworks
e) Arms and military weapons
f) Live animals
g) Current newspapers and periodicals
h) Personal effects and domestic
objects including one used motor vehicle
i) Parcel post shipments
and Commercial samples
j) Vaccines, sera
k) Goods and supplies to diplomatic and consular
entities, and United Nations organisations, imported for their
own use.
