Via Conakry

Due to the national strike and port closure which is resulting in serious congestion in Conakry we would recommend utilising the alternative ports of Dakar, Lome or Tema for CTBL containers to Mali until the situation improves.

Via Dakar

OTAL offers competitive rates on our rail service. However there will be an increase in rail rates to Mali via Dakar applicable from the 1st March 2007. The rail option has improved this year and currently there are less delays.

As an alternative OTAL offer a 'road' option which may be utilised for heavy 20fts until the situation returns to normal. Bills of Lading should be marked as 'Road Transport'

Road transport is still available as are our other routing options to Bamako via Lomé, Tema, Cotonou and Conakry. Transit to Kayes is running smoothly.

Via Abidjan

Mali: OTAL offers an inland service to Bamako via Abidjan by road/rail as an alternative to our exisiting service via Dakar.

Burkina Faso: OTAL offers CTBL connections by rail to Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso. Our rail link through to Burkina Faso is now running well. Dry cargo only, no hazardous. Please send French documents only.

Via Tema

Our CTBL road service remains competitive and is running efficiently to Burkina Faso and Mali.

We have suspended our CTBL service between Tema and inland destinations of Ghana (Accra, Kumasi) due to clearing problems in Tema.

We remind you that it is compulsory to provide copies of invoices in English, to ensure better transit of cargoes.

Via Lomé

We are pleased to advise that our tariff via Lome has been revised to reflect a decrease in the inland haulage rates.

Our service to Burkina and Mali remains of a very high standard and very competitive. We can offer a complete follow up on the latest container situation on all bookings.

Via Cotonou

We have currently updated our rates to include a Benin Escort Customs charge that has been implemented to apply to Used Cars in containers that are destined for inland Countries via Cotonou.

Via Douala
A scanner has now been installed at the port, with no disturbances to inland transit procedures.

We have been informed that a BSC (Border de suivi de cargaison) is now required for cargo destined for the CAR. However due to the uncertainty surrounding the implementation of this new Import regulation we have suspended our service for Bangui via Douala pending further information.

For cargo destined for CHAD via Douala we have recently been advised of an increase in the inland haulage rates due to the Cameroon Rail company, Camrail increasing their rates from Douala to Ngaoundere (Cameroon). Wehave therefore adjusted our Tariff in line with this increase.

In order to ensure a smooth transit for Chad cargo please be advised it essential to provide full documentation (copy of B/L, invoices, packing lists) in due time - currently 10 days prior to vessel's arrival in Douala.
